 THE PRE-GAME

Collage as Mix

Mark your calendars! The 2nd Annual Pre-Game tailgate (hosted by the RBAA Young Alumni Council) will be taking place on August 15th at the Redcoat field. We had a huge alumni turn out last year and expect even more in attendance so don’t miss the FREE FOOD and chance to reconnect with friends! Practice starts at 6pm and but we plan to start the festivities at 8pm.  So we can plan appropriately for food, please RSVP on the Facebook page so we have a fairly decent headcount.  For more information please check out the event page linked above and then dust off your favorite tailgate chair and help spread the word! :o)

Homecoming 2015

Don’t Forget! These Deadlines are Approaching!
  • A late fee of $5 will be added for registrations dated Aug.1st to Sept.15th.
  • After Sept.15, only walk-up registrations on the morning of Homecoming will be accepted, which incurs an additional $10 fee, plus donation. Please bring exact cash or check that morning.

The RBAA’s allotment of tickets for the 2015 Homecominggame v. Missouri have been sold out for several weeks. This is the first time we have run out of tickets prior to the deadline. With this being such a big SEC game, we really appreciate the Athletic Association allocating for us an even bigger block of tickets than last year.

Don’t let the lack of tickets from us dissuade you from returning, as there may be other options available.  At press time, outlets such as Stub Hub did not have tickets listed.  However, sites such as Ebay and Ticket City

show a good number of tickets available. Additionally, members with tickets can swap tickets they have purchased with other Redcoat alumni registered to march only (this option will not apply to non-participating Redcoat alumni).

Check the RBAA Facebook page often as well as the RBAA website.  And please read e-mails.  They will all contain the most up to date information to assist you in having a great 2015 Homecoming!   We look forward to seeing you!

The YAC was established in response to a recognized need for tailored young alumni initiatives. As the young alumni voice in the RBAA, the YAC hopes to ensure that recent graduates have a seamless transition into the RBAA and always feel right at home. While we are all young at heart, YAC initiatives are geared towards alumni under the age 35.  WE ARE BY NO MEANS A SEPARATE ALUMNI ASSOCIATION, but recognize that the needs and wants of younger alumni are different from those who came before us.  Interested in getting involved with the YAC?  Contact us at

Welcome Back!

Check out the RBAA registration website here to get signed up to march with the alumni band and secure your football tickets!  Game day tickets in the Redcoat Band Alumni Association’s block of seats may only be purchased through the registration site until June 30th. Congrats to the Redcoat Band Class of 2015!

This year marked the second annual senior gift program sponsored by the RBAA. Senior gifts are an opportunity for the alumni band to recognize the hard work and dedication of each graduating Redcoat senior with a small token of appreciation. This year, gifts were presented at the annual Redcoat banquet by Cathy Marszalik, a member of the RBAA Young Alumni Council.  Cathy spoke on behalf of the RBAA sharing a few words of encouragement and thanks with the group and extending to them their first official welcome into the RBAA.  This year’s gift is shown below and included a commemorative poster print and a Redcoat Young Alumni keychain.2015 Senior Gift

We wish to thank all of you for your donations to the Redcoat Scholarship Funds and hope you will consider continuing this tradition to help deserving current Redcoats have the same opportunities and amazing experiences that we did! As you enter tax season, remember that all donations are tax deductible.

Have a safe, healthy, and happy Holiday season, and we hope to see you back in Athens in 2015!

Interested in helping current Redcoats enter the workforce?

The RBAA Young Alumni Council will be hosting several online resume workshops Monday, January 26 and Thursday, January 29 at 7:30 pm. We need alumni from a variety of industries to help current Redcoats sharpen their resume and interviewing skills. These workshops will also help prepare them for an all-Alumni networking event in March. If you are interested, please contact us at redcoatyoungalumni@gmail.com.

Looking for a one-of-a-kind Holiday gift for a special Redcoat Alumni?

Pep Band Update

The RBAA Pep Band had 2 wonderful opportunities to provide support for the Redcoats at the beginning of November.

On Saturday, November 1 the Pep Band participated in the City of Alpharetta’s Chili Cook-off and UGA/UF game broadcast in downtown. It was a pretty blustery day but a great time was had by all who were able to participate (and a $500 contribution to the Redcoats was received!)

Sunday, November 2, the Pep Band was able to respond to a request by the UGA Athletic Association to play at the volleyball game against Auburn since the Redcoats were still making their way back from Jacksonville. Our presence was a big success! This was quite a challenge as so many were out of town but an awesome group ended up making it to the game. Although there was not a donation made by the UGA Athletic Association, we are trying to establish the Pep Band as a great resource for occasions like this.

The “busy season” for the Pep Band (which is basically from May – when many UGA Bulldog Clubs begin meeting across the state – through the football season) is winding down but there are still opportunities for former Redcoats to join the Pep Band throughout the year. Be watching the eNewsletter for upcoming events. The first will probably be to provide a Basketball Band for a game or 2 in Athens towards the end of December. I hope we’ll have a GREAT turnout!

Homecoming Drill Now Available! – UPDATED Everything You Need to Know for Homecoming 2014!

Everything You Need to Know for Homecoming 2014!

Homecoming is just around the corner and there are LOTS of details you need to be aware of!  Here is your one-stop-shopping on how to make all of that happen in the least painful way possible (you’re welcome :o)

Welcome Back!
NEW! Homecoming Drill is now available!
  • Find Your Marching Position Here!
  • Pregame Drill Charts – Please download, print and bring these with you on Saturday.
  • Pregame Cue Card – This is a detailed written run through of Pregame including: whistles, order of performance, counts, and horn flashes.  Definitely a great resource to have on hand and worth printing in advance.
  • If you would like to use your smartphone or tablet, the drill is also available on the app used with the current Redcoats. (Please note that rank codes on the roster are the same as those used by the app).  The app will include your position and the movement but does not provide instructions. If interested, the app (Drillbook) is available for purchase on itunes and googleplay.  Please see instructions below for loading the drill:

    – Purchase and install Drillbook Next reader.
    – Open Drillbook Next reader app.
    – In upper left corner, tap the button containing three dots.
    – Select “Search for Show”
    – Type “Redcoat Alumni” and press search
    – Select “2014 Redcoat Alumni Band”
Drill will begin loading immediately. It might be a good idea to do this before arriving so everyone isn’t doing it at the same time…

NEW!  If I’m borrowing and instrument, how will the instrument swap work with the current Redcoats?

Thursday, October 2nd:  Tags handed out at rehearsal to students who will be sharing instruments with alumni – they will write their name and cell number on the tag and keep in the instrument case until Saturday morning.

Saturday, October 4th:

 – Redcoats will rehearse first.

 – After RCB rehearsal, members will meet with alumni to swap.  Students will give alumni the instruments (no mouthpiece) and their tag.  The alumni will give the student a tag with the alum’s name and cell number.

 – Alumni will rehearse.  Students will meet alumni after alumni rehearsal to get instruments back for the Dawg Walk and stadium entrance.  (Tags with names and numbers should help facilitate this.)

 – After Krypton in stands (about 43 min. before kickoff), alumni should meet students in front of the band seating area to get instruments for pregame.

 – After pregame, alumni will return instruments in front of band seating area.

What do I need to bring?
  • Official uniform (see below), game ticket, music (see below), drill charts (see above), & mouthpiece/ adaptor/ mallets/ sticks.
